Put on your walking shoes! It's time for PhinneyWood's BIG One.

Designed to promote arts in the neighborhood, the BIG One will feature work from more than 150 area artists in 74 businesses in the Phinney-Greenwood neighborhood between 59th and 87th Streets. What's your favorite kind of art? We've got 'em all: paintings, sculptures, photography, prints, glass, metal and fiber art, ceramics and mixed media. ArtWalk maps will also be available at participating businesses as well as the Greenwood Library, 8016 Greenwood, and the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave N.

Over the years, this hugely popular event has turned into a neighborhood party with musical performances in participating businesses and churches, street performers, chalk art and activities for children. In the spirit of the neighborhood's new theme of "Art Up, Chow Down," restaurants and pubs are encouraged to participate as well by offering music or menu specials.

Originally a stand-alone annual event, the BIG One is now the centerpiece of the monthly Art Up PhinneyWood art walks, held the second Friday of each month. The PhinneyWood ArtWalk is organized by the Greenwood Arts Council, an all-volunteer organization, in collaboration with the Phinney Neighborhood Asociation, and the ArtUp Phinney-Greenwood monthly art walk, with funding support from the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
