Neighbors helping neighbors is the guiding theme behind this volunteer group. The goal of PNAction is to improve the quality of peoples lives through community-based service projects. Those in need are helped through projects such as toiletry drives, yard work for elderly and disabled neighbors, meals for homeless women, and street cleanups. Our current project is the Comfort & Joy Gift Drive for the children of Childhaven and Broadview Emergency Shelter. Click here or look for a colorful “Comfort & Joy” quilt in the lobby of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, displaying a wide range of gift ideas for different ages, from infants to teenagers. The toys, books, and other items collected will be given for birthdays and other special occasions at these two agencies. Few children served by these programs have enjoyed stable homes and nurturing families and these gifts mean a lot to them. The Comfort and Joy gift drive is an opportunity to share some of our love and gratitude with children who could use a little extra. Please return unwrapped gifts to the Phinney Neighborhood Center or Greenwood Senior Center by April 13. Community building through volunteerism is an important mission of the PNA and you, too, can make a difference through Phinney Neighbors in Action. To participate, call (206) 783-2244 or email pna@phinneycenter.org. |
