PNIA

Neighbors helping neighbors is the guiding theme behind this volunteer group. The goal of PNAction is to improve the quality of people's lives through community-based service projects. Those in need are helped through projects such as toiletry drives, yard work for elderly and disabled neighbors, meals for homeless women, and street cleanups.

Community building through volunteerism is an important mission of the PNA and you, too, can make a difference through Phinney Neighbors in Action. To participate, call 206.783.2244 or email pna@phinneycenter.org.

2011 Giving Tree

We made a list and checked it twice...

And it turns out you are much more than nice!

The 18th annual Phinney Neighbors in Action Giving Tree was another awe-inspiring, shining light of hope during this dark time of year.

Skateboards, puzzles, basketballs, stuffed animals, warm clothes, and gift cards. Just a few examples of the 300-plus surprises you wrapped up and delivered for people in need served by our partnering agencies. More than the tangible gifts, the spirit of generosity and goodwill you shared were deeply touching to all of us.

Giving Tree

Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Giving Tree!

Sincerely, on behalf of everyone at the PNA and

Phinney Neighbors In Action Provide Food For Women's Shelter

Phinney Neighbors in Action volunteers provide food for women who spend the night at a women's shelter hosted every weekend by a St. John Catholic Church in the neighborhood. These generous donor/volunteers often drop off fresh home-baked goodies, a group of children often decorates the brown paper sacks holding their breakfast donations, and a few musicians even stay a few minutes to perform while the women eat. We received this message from the church volunteer who chaperoned recently.

There was such an abundance last night: huge and varied snack (tomatoes from the garden were a hit), lovely breakfasts, beautiful lunches. The women were moved to make a thank you card. I'm always in awe of the food angels, because they're hugely generous and I rarely see them or thank them.

2011 Back-to-School Donation Drive

Wow! We are once again struck with the level of generosity in our community. Many thanks to everyone who recently donated school supplies and new clothes to students at Whitman Middle School and Treehouse. Both agencies received an abundance of supplies which will go a long way to helping students get off to a great start this school year. See a thank you note from Treehouse below. Thank you for sharing your resources with these children!
