Formerly known as Fremont Family Practice, Dr. David Harvey, MD, established his medical practice in 2003. In September 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic, he moved to a new neighborhood and gave his practice a new name: Phinney Primary Care and Wellness.

David’s rebrand vision is focused on the word “wellness” and he says it speaks to a broader term and comes in a lot of other ways, such as self-care, exercise, diet, sleep, and overall enhanced wellness.

With six medical providers and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, David operates an independent health practice where ample time can be spent with patients so appointments don’t feel rushed and, if needed, referrals to a specialist or a hospital system can be done without any restraints or restrictions. Weekend clinic hours are available the first Saturday of the month and almost all major insurance providers are accepted.

David and his team are also committed to social justice issues and inclusivity of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. Phinney Primary Care and Wellness is a registered Safe Space business that offers shelter to victims in the event of a hate crime while they call for help.

David and his wife, Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey, DMD, who owns Urban Dental Group next door, share three children. When he’s not practicing medicine, this native Philadelphian enjoys traveling with his family; especially off the beaten path.

As a child, he helped his father build a boat and, over the years, has developed a love of woodworking. Today, he uses that skill to make furniture in his workshop, and has a few pieces in his home.
