Business Spotlight: Darci Gillespie, Realtor
With seemingly as many realtors are there are houses on the market, how does one make an informed choice on who to trust with what will likely be the biggest financial decision of their life? One of the most popular ways to establish this relationship is by personal referral, which is how local agent and resident Darci Gillespie gets nearly all of her new clients. Her mantra is simple: provide consistent, excellent service to everyone.
Darci was a CPA at Deloitte & Touche in a previous life – she loves numbers and math – but the day-to-day of being an accountant was less than thrilling. A native Washingtonian, she moved to Colorado to “be a ski bum for a year,” and ended up staying for 12.
She became a realtor in 2004 because she wanted to have an independent career where she could work for herself, but mainly because she loves the business of finding people their perfect house. “You are in charge of your own success,” says Darci, which is a testament to her commitment and work ethic.
Darci came to Greenwood recently, specifically seeking this neighborhood because of its proximity to our thriving business district – “Ken’s, coffee shops, restaurants… you hardly need a car.” – as well as the friendly neighbors, sense of community, and the PNA. She was specifically looking for a mid-century house and ended up with the perfect situation, becoming the second owner of “Frank’s house”, which he built in 1962 before recently passing away.
Darci emphasizes that 2019 will be a good year for buyers, and especially people who have been discouraged by the skyrocketing Seattle market of the past few years. She urges anyone who has been sitting on the sideline to “get back in the game”.
