The 10th annual PhinneyWood Pride Rainbow Hop is on Saturday, June 4 and will celebrate Pride and LGBTQIA families and friends! It will bring the community together to share the vital message that Phinney-Greenwood is safe, inclusive, and committed to equity for all.

More than thirty businesses and organizations will host free family fun activities along the Rainbow Hop Route. Print the Hop map and activity list pdf, pick up a copy at many participating locations, and check out our online interactive map and activity list to get ready for the party!

The celebration is from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and includes activities at businesses from 87th St. to 67th St. and Greenwood Ave N. Many organizations and businesses will host activities at booths in Piper Village, Alice Ball Park, and the Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church front lawn as well.

They also invite kids to find Limerick, the baby Sasquatch, and his 3 siblings in the neighborhood for a discount at their shop.

Everyone can enjoy exploring the neighborhood and getting Hop maps stamped at participating businesses. Kids who collect at least six stamps can exchange their map for a Woodland Park Zoo ticket from 1 to 3 pm in the Ken’s Market parking lot, where they can also tie-dye a shirt in festive rainbow colors.

Greenwood Hardware, for example, will help kids apply festive temporary tattoos during Rainbow Hop and invites them to draw on their sidewalk and parking lot with chalk. “We have been a participant since the beginning and it is our favorite neighborhood event to be a part of. So much love,” shared their Office Manager Willow Yoder.

Illumination Learning Studio will host a delightful balloon dance party during Rainbow Hop, and they’ll be delighted to see families during Rainbow Hop this year. Their Business Manager Tricia Piper-Bennett shared, “At ILS, we pride ourselves in teaching and promoting acceptance to all of our students. We love participating in the annual Rainbow Hop as it’s an accessible, family friendly event that spreads so much joy throughout our vibrant community.”

PFLAG Seattle is also joining Rainbow Hop with a show your true colors drawing activity that gives kids of all ages positive messages to love themselves and others just the way they are. They’re excited to participate in this special community event.

“One mother’s voice changed the world in 1972 when she marched in support of her gay son. PFLAG was born the next year. PFLAG is all about keeping families with LGBTQ+ loved ones together, and Rainbow Hop is the kind of inclusive, family-centered event that we can get behind 100%,” shared PFLAG Seattle Chapter President Deb Dahrling.

This will be the first in-person PhinneyWood Pride Rainbow Hop since 2019. The event continued during the pandemic as a self-directed walking tour of pro-LGTBQIA art, signage, and sidewalk chalking throughout the community. We are overjoyed to bring back an in-person celebration to honor and kick off Pride Month.

“The PhinneyWood Pride Rainbow Hop celebration is a fabulous opportunity for everyone to build community and share their love of diversity and inclusion,” shared our Small Business Advocate Chris Maykut.

Belonging and inclusivity are core PNA values and we believe that Rainbow Hop embodies these ideals as a safe space where everyone is celebrated. Spread the word and come Rainbow Hop with us!
