Volunteer : Garden & Landscape

We are fortunate to have so many green spaces, and look to our volunteers to help keep them pretty and safe!  Community center garden and park spaces are maintained almost completely by volunteers, working on their own schedules, based on availability, weather, etc. Experience with gardening is great, but not necessary, as many of the tasks are simple and easy to learn. Orientation and guidance is provided, but these volunteers work very independently.

Groundskeeping & Landscaping at the Greenwood Senior Center

Help keep our grounds looking pretty by weeding, raking, litter pick up and more at the Greenwood Senior Center (525 N 85th St, 98103).

Greenwood Senior Center Vegetable Garden

The Greenwood Senior Center’s vegetable and herb garden is planned, planted and maintained by a team of volunteers.  Led by key volunteers with extensive gardening experience, our team produces vegetables and herbs used in the GSC’s daily lunch program. The GSC raised beds are located at a P-Patch near the GSC. Weekly opportunities, April through September, day/time TBD.

Yardwork for Seniors

Adopt a local senior’s garden and help with their yard work this summer. Ideal volunteers will help 1-2+ times per month, May through September. Background check required, 6+ month commitment preferred (seasonal commitment also ok). Learn more about volunteering with the Village.

Heart of Phinney Park

Heart of Phinney Park is a small neighborhood gathering place on either side of the intersection of N 67th St and Phinney/Greenwood Aves. The spaces are largely City of Seattle land, but they were developed with volunteer energy, donations, and grants under the direction of the Phinney Neighborhood Association.
