Volunteer : Garden & Landscape
We are fortunate to have so many green spaces, and look to our volunteers to help keep them pretty and safe! Community center garden and park spaces are maintained almost completely by volunteers, working on their own schedules, based on availability, weather, etc. Experience with gardening is great, but not necessary, as many of the tasks are simple and easy to learn. Orientation and guidance is provided, but these volunteers work very independently.
Heart of Phinney Park
Heart of Phinney Park is a small neighborhood gathering place on either side of the intersection of N 67th St and Phinney/Greenwood Aves. The spaces are largely City of Seattle land, but they were developed with volunteer energy, donations, and grants under the direction of the Phinney Neighborhood Association.
Greenwood Senior Center
The Greenwood Senior Center’s vegetable and herb garden is planned, planted and maintained by a team of volunteers. Led by key volunteers with extensive gardening experience, our team produces vegetables and herbs used in the GSC’s daily lunch program. The GSC raised beds are located at both the GSC (525 N 85th St). Weekly work parties on Mondays, May through September, starting at 5:30 pm.
