Tuesday February 2, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Steven M. Standaert, MD, will review the first year experience of this novel, previously unheard human pathogen, examining what makes it unprecedented and different from other respiratory infections. He will also discuss the new COVID-19 vaccines, focusing on how the new mRNA vaccines work differently from all other prior vaccines.

Dr. Standaert has been practicing in Olympia for more than 20 years as an Infectious Diseases specialist.  He attended medical school at the University of Washington, Internal Medicine residency at the University of Arizona and Infectious Diseases fellowship at Vanderbilt University.  Dr. Standaert has also completed training in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the CDC and subsequently worked in vaccine implementation as director of an epidemiology subunit of Pasteur-Mérieux in Paris France.
