2017 Day of the Dead Festival
Saturday November 4, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
If you are looking for 2018 Día de los Muertos, click here.
It’s a time to commemorate the dead and celebrate their lives with family and friends. Our free celebration will begin with a community procession and dedication of a traditional altar for offerings to the deceased. Bring your offerings (pictures, momentos, small items) to the Phinney Center before or during the event to be included on the altar (pick them back up at the Phinney Center by November 10).
Come and enjoy live music and dance, decorate sugar skulls, get your face painted, eat delicious food and drink Mexican hot chocolate, get tickets for a raffle benefiting the PNA’s Spanish language preschool co-op, and more.
4:00 pm – Festival opens: meet in Community Plaza for procession led by CeAtl Tonalli Aztec Dancers
4:45 pm – Community altar in the Blue Building dedicated by Raul Sanchez
5:15 pm – Performance by PCPE Spanish Preschool Co-op students
5:30 pm – Spanish children’s music by Marco Cortes
6:15 pm – Mexican folk dance by Bailadores de Bronce
We’ll have Mexican hot chocolate for a $2 suggested donation, and Pan de Muerto for a $1 suggested donation. (Cash)
