Pig Out to Root Out Hunger 2019
Wednesday, September 25, 2019
Dine out to support your neighbors in need!
Pig Out is a neighborhood fundraising event for the PNA’s Hot Meal Program, which serves more than 19,500 free meals a year to those in need. The program serves a balanced, nutritious meal three times a week–two dinners and a lunch–to low-income, unhoused, disabled, and elderly community members.
All you have to do is eat and drink out! Restaurants, pubs, and cafes in Phinney/Greenwood will donate a portion of your bill to the program.
Bring your friends, family and a healthy appetite to businesses marked with “Pig Out Participant” signs on Wednesday, September 25.
Breakfast, lunch, coffee break, happy hour, dinner and dessert! There’s a place for ’em all… you can “pig out” all day!

Meet George & Dana
Long-time diners, George and his wife Dana, have been coming to the Hot Meal Program every Monday for a few years to help offset their food costs. They have both suffered from a variety of major medical issues that have made it difficult to impossible to find employment.
Last year, George began volunteering at the program by helping to prepare food, set up tables, talk with fellow diners and bring a kind spirit to the meal.
Dana continues to come to the meal every week to eat and socialize. She is usually quite introverted and finds it difficult to leave her home. Her husband says, “If it wasn’t for the Hot Meal Program, she wouldn’t get out of the house.”
And Dana remarks, “I really appreciate the meal given by the Phinney Neighborhood Association because it helps me get by. But what I believe is even more important is the opportunity to socialize with other people who live in the neighborhood.”
Dana and George have found their place in the PNA Hot Meal Program and we are humbled to be part of their generous lives.
