Rip, Cut, Sew! Make Your Own Stitched Book
Wednesday, January 19, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Wednesday, repeating until Wednesday February 9, 2022
Do you have a mending pile gathering dust? Perhaps you have some old clothes from children or a loved one sitting in your closet for sentimental reasons? Join instructor Chandra Wu to learn how to bring new life to old items and gain new sewing skills for mending or decorative needlecrafts. Choose a variety of items around your house: pants, handkerchiefs, collared shirts (t-shirts can be less forgiving so save those for round two) or even table linens and bring them to our first class. We will begin with the basics of clothing deconstruction using a seam ripper and advance through various methods for mending, embroidering and sewing patches and quilting using “upcycled” clothing. We will sew a simple 4-page bound “book” of sample stitches that can be a memory book about loved ones, a gift for a child, or simply a needlebook for showcasing the skills you will learn in our class!
