Seattle Night Out 2025 is August 5th!
Know your neighbors and help transform every block into a community.
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building event that takes place on the first Tuesday of August. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, August 5th.
Neighborhood Block Parties are a fun and easy way to build community. PNA encourages YOU to get outside and get to know your neighbors!
5 Steps to Party on Your Block!
Complete these five steps before July 27th to register your block with the city and obtain the signage and barricades you need.
1. Make sure your street is block party appropriate.
- Blocked areas can’t include an intersection or be on an arterial street. Click here to see your street’s classification.
2. Review the street closure checklist and template provided
- Street closure checklist here
- See whether you need a partial or full street closure. Select the appropriate template and upload when applying for your block party permit.
3. Inform and invite your neighbors
- Confirm the dates with your neighbors to ensure they don’t have a construction project
- You can inform via phone, text, email, in person, or using this flyer template
- Be sure to invite neighbors to join the fun and also volunteer to help make the event a success!
4. Apply for your free permit
- Submit your application at least 14 days before your event so it’s processed in time.
- Once registered and logged in, follow these steps to submit your application
5. Select your barricade and signs
- If you are adjacent to a non-arterial street, you can use a type 2 barricade. Examples include large trash cans or furniture that’s at least 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide.
- If you are adjacent to an arterial street, you must use a type 3 barricade, which can be rented.
- Select a “street closed” sign – Template here
During Your Party – Get to know your neighbors and have fun!
After your party – Clean up, remove barricades, and keep in touch with your neighbors!
