We offer some drop-in classes, such as Mini Watercoloring of PhinneyWood and Create Your Own Toolbox. For other classes, advance booking is required due to limited availability, so secure your tickets early to avoid missing out!

Make a Mug, Slab Style!

About the Workshop: Enjoy your beverage of choice in an exciting new mug you made yourself. Join us for a workshop where you’ll delve into the world of clay, specifically focusing on crafting your own unique mug. Guided by local artist, Coco Spadoni, you’ll explore the fundamentals of working with slabs and templates to shape your personalized mug. Coco's Story
Coco Spadoni is a ceramist artist and teacher based in Seattle. They are drawn to bold bright colors that pop with modern freshness! Spadoni uses patterns and abstract characters to explore what it means to be holistically human- with all our messiness and playful energy. About the Workshop: Dive into the world of geometric abstract art in our dynamic painting class! Participants will craft a unique 16×20″ abstract painting using a variety of tools and techniques, including brushes, a scraper, tape, and spray paint. Explore abstract painting methods, choose your favorite colors, and layer your creation with paint. Add an exciting twist with tape and metallic spray paint, then peel back the tape to unveil your stunning geometric masterpiece. This class is a perfect blend of instruction and creative freedom

About the Workshop: Explore the creativity, spontaneity and fun of improv in a bite-sized experience! Say Yes, and! to a quick lesson in the basics of improv that leads to collaborative games, story-telling and scene creation in a hilarious and supportive community atmosphere. About the Workshop: Your child’s imagination provides the inspiration in this bite-sized workshop! They’ll experience the wonder of Theatre As Play as they work together to recreate a story their teacher just read in an environment where empathy and respect are highly valued. Children will listen to an age appropriate story, then with the guidance of an expert teacher they will act it out together.

About the Workshop: Unleash your inner artist and explore the beauty of PhinneyWood through watercolor painting. In this feature area, participants will have the opportunity to create their own mini-watercolor paintings using watercolor pencils, under the guidance of Emily Weissman, a talented local artist known for her captivating landscapes and vibrant compositions.
No prior experience is necessary! Emily and our helpful volunteers will provide step-by-step instructions, tips, and encouragement. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or trying watercolors for the first time, this activity is perfect for artists of all skill levels and ages.
Emily's Story
Emily is a local Seattle artist who loves to bring a playful and joyful quality to everyday scenes. Through watercolor, she captures the beauty of “ordinary” neighborhood places, in celebration of the people who give them meaning. Emily is also the illustrator of several children’s books including Harriet’s Grand Adventure and My Home Is With You. Most recently Emily released Color-Me Phinney, a coloring book full of architecture, history, shopfronts, and favorite foods in the Phinney Ridge and Greenwood neighborhoods. Emily’s Etsy store has charming prints and quirky maps, and she accepts commissions for shopfronts and home portraits, as well as hand drawn illustrations of your family’s favorite recipes. About the Workshop: Join us for an outdoor crafting experience with our ‘Tiny Tinkerer’s Toolbox Workshop,’ hosted by the PNA Community Workshop Volunteers. In this workshop, children have the opportunity to construct their own toolboxes, enhancing their creativity and building practical skills. No prior booking is required for this walk-up workshop; participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. We provide all necessary materials, pre-cut for ease. Participants will focus on assembling their toolboxes. Join us for a fun, hands-on learning experience.

The PNA Community Woodshop is a space that builds and supports a broad community of fabrication and woodworking. We welcome members who are enthusiastic about learning, teaching, sharing, and inspiring one another with creativity, skill, and community service.

Print Your Own Custom Piano Nobile x PNA Summer Arts Festival Poster

About the Workshop:Learn how to screen print your very own custom poster to take home! Artist Isabelle Robertson will be at the press for a hands-on one-of-a-kind print experience. Ages 10+.
About Piano Nobile
Isabelle Grizzard and Nickolas Robertson founded Piano Nobile in 2006 in Brooklyn, New York. From the beginning the studio has centered a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving, from their first residential and commercial architecture projects in New York, to launching a successful wholesale product line that sold their hand-printed textiles and home goods throughout North America and Japan (2006 – 2017). In 2007 they moved to Seattle, and they’ve been growing their studio and family ever since. They continue to offer multi-disciplinary services, including architecture, interior design, landscape design, and home goods. Today the studio has grown to include a resourceful, inventive team with a deep background in hands-on design and construction centering core values of community and education. Nick and Isabelle taught at Cornish College of the Arts from 2015-2020, and look forward to offering workshops in their brand new studio in the Phinney Center. They are very excited to be the newest tenants at the PNA campus!

About the Workshop: Build a town on paper with Architect Nick Robertson! Use a variety of building block stamps, real building pieces and found objects to print a streetscape inspired by your own neighborhood.
