Hunger Goblin’ Trick or Treat & Food Drive

About PNA’s Hunger Goblin

For over 30 years the PhinneyWood business district has hosted a daytime trick or treat the Saturday closest to Halloween. In 2013, we transformed the event into a food drive to benefit the amazing FamilyWorks in Wallingford, and the Hunger Goblin’ Trick or Treat & Food Drive was born.

So dress up the kiddos and head out for treats galore! Participating businesses between 67th and 87th on Greenwood will be ready for you from noon-3pm on Saturday, October 26th. Look for the Participating Business sign in the window that day.

Event Details

Hunger Goblin” is not just about having a good time, but also about making a positive impact on our community. By addressing food insecurity through our food drive component, we aim to drive meaningful change and provide support to those in need.

Beyond the goodies and treats, this event encourages meaningful conversations between neighbors, both old and new, fostering a sense of togetherness and camaraderie. Let’s create lasting memories as we celebrate the Halloween spirit while also making a difference in the lives of others.

Come and be part of this heartwarming tradition that combines the joy of Halloween with the spirit of giving. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure everyone in our community has access to nutritious food. See you at Hunger Goblin!”

Food Drive Locations

For the entire month of October, there will be decorated donation boxes at numerous businesses throughout the district to collect healthy, non-perishable items to help support FamilyWorks. Please remember to find some unused items in your pantries or make some special purchases at Ken’s Market for this great cause. In 2022, the neighborhood donated over 1500 pounds of food for those in need!

The FamilyWorks Food Banks (located in Wallingford and Greenwood) are dedicated to providing fresh, healthy food to people and families in our community who are experiencing hunger or are in danger of experiencing hunger.

We work hard to ensure that the food bank is stocked with a rotating variety of nutrient-rich foods every week including:

  • Fresh Produce
  • Meat

  • Baby and instant foods and supplies
  • Diabetic and low-salt items
  • Vegan, vegetarian, and culturally-specific foods when possible

Anyone is welcome to shop at our food banks regardless of zip code or income. We will never ask for proof of identification or other forms of verification.
