Now, connection is more important than ever.
Nearly one-fourth of adults aged 65 and older are considered to be socially isolated. Older adults are at increased risk for loneliness and social isolation because they are more likely to face factors such as living alone, the loss of family or friends, chronic illness, and hearing loss.
As we are all urged to stay home and maintain social distance to combat the spread of COVID-19, we have seen a heightened risk of social isolation and loneliness among people of all ages, but especially among older adults.
We believe, now more than ever, that the work of our Greenwood Senior Center, PNA Village, and Memory Loss Program is essential.
Keynote Speaker & Program:
Carla M. Perissinotto, M.D., M.H.S., associate professor in the Division of Geriatrics, Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
Dr. Perissinotto has gained national and international recognition for her research on the effects of loneliness on the health of older adults.
In addition to our keynote address, you will hear from members of the senior community, see some examples of what we’ve been up to, and learn about the impact our programs are having right now.
