Call To Artists — Mural Artist Phinneywood Art Walk 2026

The Opportunity

Puget Hound and the Phinney Neighborhood Association are looking for one artist to paint a live mural over the PhinneyWood Art Walk weekend — created in public, in real time, as the community gathers around it.

This is a milestone year. The PhinneyWood Art Walk celebrates 30 years of art and culture in our neighborhood, and this mural will be part of that legacy.

The Location

Puget Hound — 7619 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103

Mural Size: 17′ wide x 11′ tall. This is the grey wall (on the side of the Fortuna building).

Puget Hound is a fear-free dog grooming salon run by Alexis Baker — a neighborhood institution that opened its Greenwood Ave storefront in 2025. Alexis describes the space as “a sanctuary for pups and a training ground for groomers who believe in kindness-first
practices.” The mural will live on an exterior wall, becoming a permanent landmark on Greenwood Ave. Artists are encouraged to respond to the warmth and community spirit of the space — and its canine clientele.

Painting Schedule

Thursday August 14, 2026 — 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday August 15, 2026 — 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

You will be painting across both sessions (8 hours total). Plan your scale, medium, and drying time accordingly. Prep work could be done prior to the weekend if needed. The mural should be substantially complete by end of Saturday.

Why Apply

This is a chance to work in front of a live audience — the PhinneyWood Art Walk draws hundreds of neighbors, families, and fellow artists across the weekend. The mural stays permanently, giving your work lasting visibility on a busy Greenwood block. We encourage
you to bring business cards, signage, or printed materials so people watching you work can find you afterwards.

The Stipend

A stipend of $2,000 is provided. Artists are expected to supply all their own materials and equipment needed.
