Artist Application

Blue Building Rotating Exhibition Application

We are now accepting applications for the Blue Building Rotating Exhibitions program — a community-focused exhibition series highlighting local artists in the heart of the PhinneyWood neighborhood.

The program creates meaningful opportunities for artists to share work in a welcoming, highly visible public space. We especially encourage applications from emerging and BIPOC artists.

Throughout the year, the program will also feature exhibitions connected to cultural celebration months, highlighting artists and communities that reflect the diversity of Seattle.

Each exhibition features two artists at a time on the Blue Building lobby exhibition walls and may include both work for sale and NFS.

Program Goals

The program is designed to:

  • Support local and emerging artists
  • Increase visibility for underrepresented voices
  • Foster community connection through art
  • Celebrate cultural months and highlight the diversity of our community through art
  • Create accessible entry points into exhibiting artwork professionally

Exhibition Schedule 2026

  • August 1 – August 31 – Black August: Creative Voices
  • September 1 – November 2
  • November 2 – November 30 – Celebrating Indigenous Peoples Month

2027 Schedule will be published near the end of the year.

Application Window

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Every three months, the PNA reviews new submissions and reaches out to all applicants within approximately 90 days of application.

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from:

  • Emerging and established artists
  • Individual artists or collaborative partnerships
  • Artists working in 2D mediums suitable for wall display
  • Artists based in Seattle

Please note: Cultural Month exhibitions are reserved for artists with lived or cultural connection to the community being highlighted.

Priority will be given to:

  • Emerging artists
  • BIPOC artists

Exhibition Space

The exhibitions are installed in the lobby of the PNA Blue Building — a community hub with regular daily foot traffic from classes, events, meetings, and neighborhood programming.

Artists will exhibit on two designated wall areas and will be featured on the PNA website and promotional channels.

These are U shaped panels (8′ along the back wall, and 2′ on the wings).

Artist Support & Promotion

Selected artists receive:

  • A featured artist profile on the PNA website
  • Promotion through PNA social media and e-newsletters
  • Inclusion in any exhibition materials
  • Exhibition experience in a community-focused setting

Artwork Sales & Commission

Artwork can be purchased in person through the PNA front desk. Payments accepted via cash, check, or credit card through Square.

Sold artwork may be picked up immediately. We will rearrange your work to cover empty spaces, and we may reach out to ask for more pieces if neccessary.

Commission structure for sold work is 60(artists)/40(PNA). Payments will be processed to the artist no later than 4 weeks post sale (likely sooner).

Important Information

  • Artwork must be ready to hang
  • PNA reserves the right to decline work that does not align with the program or installation requirements
  • Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of artwork, and will need to be able to help hang the work with the program coordinator
