About Whittier Kids Afterschool Program

PNA Whittier Kids (WK) offers onsite out-of-school-time programs for Whittier Elementary students in grades K-5th. A typical day at WK includes free choice stations, teacher-facilitated activities, outside and/or gym play, reading time, and a hearty snack. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and fun space where all kids feel welcome and valued.

Enrollment in WK’s school year program is limited to Whittier Elementary Students. All kids ages 5-12 are welcome to enroll in WK’s summer camp program.

WK is licensed and monitored through the Department of Children, Youth and Families and voluntarily participates in Schools Out Washington’s program quality initiative. Decisions regarding curriculum goals and staff practices are guided by program assessment tools, as well as PNA’s mission and values.

Program Highlights

After school child care from dismissal to 6:00 pm

All-day child care during Fall, Winter, Mid-Winter, and Spring Breaks. WK also offers a summer camp program.

Designated spaces in the school for three cohorts: K/1st, 2nd/3rd, and 4th/5th. Access to the gym, playground, and play court.
Positive guidance compatible with Whittier Elementary’s school-wide expectations for respectful, responsible, and safe behavior
A daily theme-based project and a variety of free-choice stations, including board games, open art, pretend play, and building toys
Flexible scheduling to meet the individual needs of families.
USDA approved snacks

Enrollment Process

Whittier Kids is opening enrollment for the 2026-2027 School Year on April 24, 2026.

New families will request enrollment for the upcoming school year through submitting a Request for Enrollment Form. Forms can be dropped off at WK or emailed to gro.r1776319659etnec1776319659yenni1776319659hp@sd1776319659ikret1776319659tihw1776319659.

Enrollment requests are placed on a waiting list. All enrollment requests received on April 24 will be entered into a lottery to determine waitlist placement. Forms received on or after April 25 will be placed in the order we receive them. 

Request for Enrollment Forms and a Fee Schedule will be posted on this page on April 24. 

Families will be offered a spot or informed of their waiting list status via email by May 8, 2026.

Preschool

Whittier Kids Preschool is a mixed-aged, play-oriented preschool program at Whittier Elementary for 3-5 year olds. We use play as a natural teaching tool to make learning fun and relevant for our community of young learners.

Summer Camps let kids learn new skills, explore new friendships and grow and learn in a safe, fun environment. With engaging weekly themes, it’s a super fun way to spend vacation! After-care is available. Whittier Kids Summer Camp enrollment is not limited to students of Whittier Elementary School – all kids are welcome to attend!
