About Whittier Kids’ Preschool Program

PNA Whittier Kids Preschool (WKPS) is a single classroom, mixed-age preschool for children 3-5 years old onsite at Whittier Elementary. A typical day at WKPS includes hands-on exploration of an interesting topic, two hours of play in a variety of learning centers, meal times with friends, outside time, circle time, and music. We strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging space for young children to come together as a caring community of learners.

WKPS follows Seattle Public School’s yearly calendar and is open from September – June. Program hours are MTTHF 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, and 8:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Optional extended day child care is offered until 4:30 pm. Preschool is closed during SPS school breaks. Optional child care is offered during school breaks, including summer. Whittier Kids is closed on major holidays.

New students are welcome to request enrollment throughout the school year!

WKPS is licensed and monitored by the Department of Children, Youth and Families and voluntarily participates in Washington State’s Early Achievers program. We use research-based tools as a basis for our curriculum, learning centers, and teaching practices.
